Volleyball Remains Perfect

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. - The Shenandoah University women's volleyball team completed its second straight perfect week by sweeping a tri-match at Gwynedd-Mercy with Alvernia and the host Griffins.

Shenandoah (6-0) swept both matches, taking out Alvernia (2-5) 19, 19 and 18 in the opening game before completing the sweep with a 15, 19, 19 victory over Gwynedd-Mercy (0-4) in the final match of the day.

Senior Mary Harshman paced SU in the opening match with nine kills while Haley Smith and Samantha Schambach both added seven.

Kelcy Brown and Blake Parkes chipped in 19 assists each.

Defensively, sophomore Nicole Mueller had eight digs.

In the nightcap, Rachel Gross had four kills with Smith and Allie Pieper backing her up with three each.

The Griffins gave Shenandoah 16 points on errors and the Hornets were dominant at the service line with 17 aces.

Parkes had six aces and Mueller three.

SU is back in action on Wednesday night versus Marymount.
