Meredith Outlasts Volleyball

RALEIGH, N.C. - Host Meredith College outlasted Shenandoah University with a 3-1 victory over the Hornets in USA South volleyball action Saturday afternoon at Weatherspoon Gymnasium.

After Shenandoah (6-6, 2-3 USA South) opened with a 26-24 victory in the first set, MC came back to win 26-24, 26-24, 25-22 in sets two through four to seal the victory.

Both teams had 62 kills in the match at virtually the same percentage - .231 for SU and .234 for the Avenging Angels - with each team also committing 22 errors.

The statistics were virtually equal all the way across the board with assists, digs and total blocks all coming out with a difference of one.

Senior Rachel Maki had 16 kills for Shenandoah with Mary Harshman and Haley Smith adding 10 each. Harshman had a match-high 22 digs.

Kelcy Brown and Brooke Strathy combined for 49 assists.

SU completes the day with a 2:00 matchup against Greensboro.
