HARRISONBURG, Va. - Host Eastern Mennonite University swept Shenandoah University 3-0 in non-conference volleyball action Thursday evening.

The Royals (4-10) snapped a five-match losing streak with the 29-27, 25-21, 25-19 victory over Shenandoah (6-5).

The Hornets fought off four set points in the opener before EMU was able to string together an SU attack error and a Tabitha Bowman kill to clinch the set.

Eastern Mennonite scored eight of the final nine points in the second to bring itself one set from victory.

Sophomore Haley Smith led SU on offense with eight kills while Mary Harshman had seven.

Three others: Brooke Strathy, Rachel Maki and Samantha Schambach, had six each.

Kelcy Brown had a double-double with 16 assists and 11 digs.

Harshman led all players on defense with 16 digs.

Shenandoah is on the road Saturday for a USA South Conference tri-match at Meredith. The Hornets take on Greensboro as well as the host Avenging Angels.
