LYNCHBURG, Va. - Host Lynchburg College took a battle of volleyball Hornets with a 3-0 non-league win over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.

The LC Hornets (2-1) won at 15, 11 and 26-24 over SU (1-2).

Junior Mary Harshman led Shenandoah with five kills and 10 digs while freshman Rachel Gross added four kills. 

Sophomore Haley Smith paced SU from the service line with three aces.

The SU Hornets had their best chance to take a set in the third, holding serve at 24-23, but lost the next point before Lynchburg clinched the match by winning the next two consecutive points.

Shenandoah returns home to play Chatham (Pa.) on Friday night non-league match.
