Terenzi Adds Nine

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Head Women's Volleyball Coach Jaime Terenzi announced a class of nine recruits that she is adding into her program for the 2011 season.

Terenzi, who led SU to a program-record 18 wins last season in her first season as the Hornets head coach, has three local players in her first recruiting class.

Laurie Connelly and Emma Sweeney are both Handley graduates while Ashleigh Tanis played her prep volleyball at Sherando.

Six of the nine are from Virginia with one player each coming from New Jersey, North Carolina and California.

The California native - Chantelle Phung - is a transfer from San Jose City College.

In addition to these eight recruited student-athletes, Terenzi has 11 women who have expressed an interest in trying out for the team and 10 women from the 2010 team eligible to return this fall.

"I am very excited for the 2011 season," Terenzi said. "With have a great group of returners, and some good incoming talent, we will have a depth that is going to help us with our strong schedule.  I'm looking forward a successful season."

Shenandoah opens up the 2011 season, its last in the USA South, on September 3 with a home tri-match against Randolph and Hood colleges.
