Terenzi Takes Volleyball Post

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Wayne Edwards announced Friday that Jaime Terenzi has been named as the Hornets new head women's volleyball coach.

Terenzi comes to Shenandoah University after serving as the Assistant Athletics Director and Head Men's and Women's Volleyball Coach at Newbury (Mass.) College since 2007. She led the Nighthawks women's program to a second place finish this past season in the New England Collegiate Conference with the men winning the NECC title for the first time in school history.

The two teams were a combined 14-1 in NECC play.

Terenzi, a native of Lincoln, R.I. and a 1998 Springfield (Mass.) College graduate, takes over the volleyball position from Sarah Pelster. Pelster gave up her volleyball job this past May after being promoted to Associate Athletics Director for Administrative Services.

Prior to her experience at Newbury, Terenzi was the co-head women's volleyball coach at Wheaton (Mass.) College and the head volleyball coach at both La Salle (R.I.) Academy and Seekonk (Mass.) High School. At La Salle, Terenzi headed up both the boy's and girl's programs.

In 2007, her teams won boy's and girl's Rhode Island state championships, winning 80 of 81 matches, and Terenzi garnered a pair of Coach of the Year honors.

"I'm excited about becoming part of the staff, working with my team and joining the Shenandoah family," Terenzi said.  "The atmosphere here is so inviting and the staff members I have met with have been terrific.  I have heard great things about the team and I look forward to meeting them and starting the season."

Terenzi also has extensive camp coaching experience.

"We are delighted to have Jaime join our athletics family," Edwards said. "She has realized tremendous accomplishments during her high school and collegiate coaching career, and comes to us highly recommended from professionals throughout New England. I think she is exactly the person we need to realize progress within our volleyball program."

Terenzi, who will have additional duties as the Coordinator of Academic Support Services for Athletics, will start her full-time duties in August.
