Hollins Rallies Past Women's Tennis

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Hollins University rallied for a 5-4 ODAC women's tennis victory over Shenandoah University Saturday afternoon.

Shenandoah (3-9, 1-7 ODAC) led 2-1 after doubles and got wins at Nos. 1 and 2 singles to put itself just one win away from clinching, but Hollins (6-11, 4-6) had other ideas.

HU swept the final four singles matches with Htet Myat San winning 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 over Emma Crur at No. 4 to finish off the comeback victory.

Crue and Alyssa White had given the Hornets that 2-1 lead thanks to an 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles. This win followed Morgan Fuqua and Melodie Madison's 8-4 triumph at No. 1 doubles that had squared the match at 1-1.

White got the third point with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and after Hollins won at Nos. 3 and 6, Fuqua dispatched Jhovanna Salmeron 6-0, 7-5 at No. 1 to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Hornets.

Shenandoah is back in action next Saturday in a 1 p.m. home ODAC match versus Randolph College.
