Women's Tennis Dominates Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Shenandoah University women's tennis team opened up its ODAC slate Saturday afternoon with an 8-1 victory at Guilford College.

Shenandoah (3-1, 1-0 ODAC) won all but the No. 6 singles match in taking out the Quakers (1-7, 0-5).

SU swept the doubles, winning 8-5 at No. 1 and 8-2 at Nos. 2 and 3 to set itself up to clinch.

The Hornets did just that, winning the Nos. 1 through 5 singles matches in straight sets.

Morgan Fuqua had a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1, Alyssa White 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2, Melodie Madison 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3, Emma Crue 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4 and Audrea Wright 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.

Fuqua and Madison had that 8-5 victory at No. 1 doubles with White and Crue teaming up at No. 2 and Denise Vollmer and Wright at No. 3.

Denisa Banasova had the only loss of the day, falling 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (9-7) at No. 6 singles.

Shenandoah returns home on Saturday for a 1 p.m. ODAC match versus Lynchburg.
