VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Freshman Amber Lake led the Shenandoah University women's tennis team as the Hornets participated in the ODAC Individual Championships hosted by Virginia Wesleyan.

Lake had two singles wins and a doubles victory for SU in her first collegiate competition.

Playing No. 6 singles, she opened the tournament with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Lynchburg's Ari Peikin in the quarterfinals before taking out Rita Murphy from Bridgewater 8-0 in the semis.

A championship match against Haley Goodes from Roanoke was unfinished due to rain.

In doubles, Lake paired with Kayla Green to win by default over Victoria Coffee and Sarah Grace McCormick in the quarterfinal round.

This concludes the team's final competition. Spring play starts in early February.
