Monarchs Eliminate Women's Tennis

BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team concluded its run in the USA South with a 9-0 loss to No. 3 Methodist University Friday morning in the USA South Conference Tournament quarterfinals.

Methodist (19-3) took a 3-0 lead after doubles and never looked back against the Hornets (8-8).

The closest doubles match came at No. 3, where Kelsey Brewster and Rachel Gross fell 8-4 to Sara Altman and Stephanie Hunter.

The Monarchs clinched with wins in the top two singles matches.

Kayla Green had the closest singles match, losing 6-3 in the first set before retiring in the second after the match result was decided.

Carla Wong, at No. 1, was the only other player to win more than one game in singles. She lost 6-1, 6-1.

Shenandoah opens its first ODAC campaign in the fall of 2013.
