Women's Tennis Sweeps USA South Awards

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Shenandoah University women's tennis team has swept the USA South Conference weekly awards in selections announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

Sophomore Carla Wong and freshman Shannon Allin have been named USA South Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, for their performance last Saturday night against Division II Shippensburg.

Wong and Allin led the Hornets to the 7-2 victory over the Red Raiders by combining for three victories.

The duo opened the evening with a 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles before Wong was a 6-1, 6-1 victor at No. 1 singles and Allin 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2.

This is the first league honor for both women.

Shenandoah is back in action on Saturday night in a non-league match against Division II Shepherd.
