Arndt Tallies Five Times in Loss

ASHLAND, Va. – Host Randolph-Macon used a strong second half to fuel a 20-13 ODAC women's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah Wednesday evening.

Macon (8-4, 5-0 ODAC) broke an 8-8 tie with a goal eight seconds before halftime and then scored 11 of the 16 second half goals on its way to the victory over SU (3-9, 1-4).

The first half was a back-and-forth affair that featured four ties and two lead changes as the two teams were only separated by more than one goal for 2:07 in the stanza.

After Jacque Hemler knotted the game at 8-8 with an unassisted tally at 22 seconds, the Yellow Jackets won the ensuing draw and scored at the eight-second mark to put themselves on top to stay.

The 'Jackets scored the initial two goals of the second and five of the first six to extend their lead out to 14-9 with 23:05 remaining.

The two teams split the next six goals, with Annie McCorry scoring once and Brittany Arndt twice for the Hornets, before Macon closed the game on 4-1 run.

McCorry had the lone goal for SU in this span, scoring unassisted with 8:35 remaining.

Arndt had five goals on the evening with Hemler scoring three times and McCorry twice.

R-MC outshot the Hornets 35-27 and had 21-14 and 13-12 advantages in draw controls and groundballs, respectively.

Kiera Lane had six saves in the losing effort.

The women are now off until hosting Washington and Lee on Wednesday in a 6 p.m. ODAC contest.
