ANNVILLE, Pa. - Host Lebanon Valley pulled away midway through the first half in 17-6 non-league women's lacrosse victory Saturday afternoon.
After Shenandoah (0-2) scored the game's first goal on a Samantha Sisson free position tally at 28:17, LVC (1-1) answered with five of the next six goals of the contest.
Sisson set up freshman Becky Bove at 24:26 to knot the game at 2-2, but this would be the Hornets high-water mark for the contest.
The Dutchmen scored three straight in a span of 8:03 to take a 5-2 lead with 14:26 remaining.
Junior Liz Bereit snapped the string with an unassisted tally at 12:50, but the hosts ended the first half on a 4-1 run.
Leadingf 9-4 at the break, Lebanon Valley then iced it by scoring five of the initial six goals in the second.
Bereit, on a free position shot, had the lone SU goal during this run.
Sisson ended the Hornets scoring for the day with an unassisted goal at the 13:40 mark of the second.
LVC outshot SU 33-14 and had 15-11 and 15-8 advantages in groundballs and draw controls, respectively.
Both teams converted three free position shots.
Ashley Cross had 13 saves in the losing effort.
The women are off until hosting Dickinson on Saturday, March 1 at 4 p.m.
