WINCHESTER, Va. – Shenandoah University saw its five-game women's lacrosse winning streak snapped Wednesday night with a 19-9 non-league loss to McDaniel.
The Green Terror (5-3) scored the opening goal of the game 69 seconds in and after Julia Jacobs scored unassisted at 22:52, led the rest of the way against SU (6-2).
Samantha Sisson tallied off of a free position shot for the hosts at 18:52 to cut the deficit to 3-2, but this would be as close as the Hornets would get.
McDaniel, which dominated possession thanks to a 19-11 advantage in draw controls, answered Sisson's tally by outscoring Shenandoah 6-3 in the final 16:59 of the opening stanza.
The final goal, but Bridget Bopst on a free position shot, came just 36 seconds before the halftime gun.
The Green Terror then scored the initial three goals of the second to push the advantage out to seven goals by the 24:41 mark.
A pair of Liz Bereit free position goals, at 24:25 and 20:06, brought the Hornets to within five at 12-7 before McDaniel tallied seven of the game's final nine goals.
Bereit had four goals and one assist for five points with Sisson adding two goals and two assists.
The visitors outshot SU 29-19, had a 13-11 advantage in groundballs and were nearly perfect, 18 of 19, on clears.
Green Terror goalies combined for five saves while Ashley Cross had four stops for the hosts.
