Wolverines Roar Past Women's Lax
DOVER, Del. - Host Wesley College sent Shenandoah University
down to its fourth straight women's lacrosse defeat with a 21-8
non-league victory over the Hornets Saturday afternoon at Scott
Miller Stadium.
Wesley (6-5) won its fourth straight contest as it jumped all over
the Hornets (1-5) for 15 first-half goals.
The Wolverines scored their initial tally at 28:37 and scored five
more times in the next 6:39 to take a 6-0 lead by the 21:58
mark.
Freshman Kierra
Nicholson broke up this string for the hosts with her tally off
of a Sara
Mucciaro assist, but SU would get no closer than four goals the
rest of the way.
Shenandoah cut it to that four-goal margin when Nicholson and
Mucciaro scored 32 seconds apart in the game's 13th minute; WC
erased any thoughts of an SU comeback by answering this run by
scoring eight straight times.
Mucciaro led the visitors with three goals and one assist for four
points and also chipped in three draw controls.
The Wolverines outshot SU 33-21 for the game and also won the
groundball battle 32-27.
SU won 16 of the game's 30 draws, including 12 of 20 in the first
half. Danielle
Lawson made seven saves in the losing effort.
