Frostburg Tops Women's Lax
FROSTBURG, Md. - Host Frostburg State used a mid-game rally to
secure a 19-11 non-league women's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah
University Wednesday afternoon.
Shenandoah (2-10) scored the game's opening goal and led by one on
four additional occasions before the Bobcats (5-7) rallied late in
the first half.
With the Hornets up 5-4, Frostburg scored four of the final five
goals of the first to take a lead it would not relinquish.
Holding an 8-6 advantage at the break, FSU scored the opening three
goals of the second to go up five, 11-6, by the 24:45 mark.
SU regrouped and got itself back into it by scoring three goals in
a 27 second span, but would get no closer than this 11-9
deficit.
Sophomore Sara Mucciaro led the visitors with two goals and four
assists, Laurel Smith added three goals and one assists and Rebecca
Hibble two goals.
Frostburg outshot Shenandoah 41-32, won 19 of 31 draw controls and
had 35 groundballs to the Hornets' 28.
