BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Host Bridgewater College used a nine-goal run
early in the first half Thursday afternoon to secure a 19-7
non-league women's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah.
After SU (1-6) opened the game's scoring with a Jennie Ott goal at
26:50, the Eagles (3-5) took a lead they would not relinquish by
scoring the game's next nine goals.
Ott snapped this string with an unassisted goal 87 seconds before
halftime, and the Hornets scored two more times before heading into
the halftime lockerroom, but it was not enough.
Leading 10-4 heading into the second half, Bridgewater iced it by
scoring a pair of free position goals in the first three minutes of
the second half.
Jessie Kuykendall, who had Shenandoah's final goal of the first
half, had two of the team's three second half tallies.
Ott and Kuykendall had three points apiece with Sara Mucciaro
adding a goal and an assist.
BC outshot SU 41-21 and had 29 of the game's 56 groundballs.
