Hoops Announces Alumni Appreciation Day

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University basketball coaches Rob Pryor and C.K. Calhoun announced Thursday their first-ever Alumni Appreciation Day.

Pryor, in his second year as the head coach of the men's program, and Calhoun, who is in the midst of her first season leading the SU women, are inviting all basketball alumni back to campus for an ODAC doubleheader on January 19.

The Hornet women take on Washington and Lee at 2:00 before the men host Lynchburg at 4:00.

All alumni will be admitted free to the doubleheader and invited to the hospitality room that will be open at halftime of both games as well as in between the two contests.

Attending alumni will be recognized at halftime of both games.

"We are always looking for ways to keep the alumni involved with our programs," Pryor said. "In talking with C.K., we came up with this idea as a way just to say thanks and to have the current players meet some of the people that came before them here at SU."

The day falls on one of just two doubleheader dates this season.

"Rob and I both have alumni on our staffs, and they always mention how interested their former teammates are in how the teams are doing," Calhoun said.

"We want these alumni to know how important they are to the continued success of our two teams and we felt this would be a perfect way to express our appreciation to them."

All alumni interested in returning for the game are encouraged to send an email to alums@su.edu to inform the alumni office of your intention to attend.
