Women's Hoops Runs for Cancer

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Shenandoah University women's basketball team raised nearly $400 Saturday in its third annual Buzz for Cancer Run/Walk at Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium.

For the third straight year, the women's hoopsters held the 5K run/walk to benefit the Winchester Medical Center's Wellspring Center. The Wellspring Center is the WMC's outfit that assists cancer patients/survivors and their families.

"This is an issue that is very important to our team," head coach Michelle Guyant-Holloway said. "With October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, we felt it was a perfect time to hold the event.

"I am very happy that we were able to raise the money we did for the Wellspring Center. Every little bit helps."

The 'race' results.
