Women Sixth at MAC Outdoor

RADNOR, Pa. - The Shenandoah University men's and women's track & field teams wrapped up their respective 2010 outdoor seasons Saturday afternoon with a pair of top 10 finishes at the MAC Championships hosted by Widener University.

The SU women finished sixth and the men finished 10th in the team's second-ever official participation in the MAC Championships.

Sophomore Kevin Schaeffer led the day for the men by finishing sixth in the 110 meter and seventh in the 400 meter hurdles with 17.38 and 58.72, respectively.

The men's 4 x 400 meter relay team of Kirk Lewis, Kevin JohnsonTim Robinson and MeQuel Phillips ran a 3:26.57 to finish fourth overall.

On the women's side, sophomore Amy Smith picked up two more All-MAC honors by finishing fifth in the 5000 meters and sixth in the 1500 meters. Smith had a 4:57.28 in the 1500 finals.

In the 5000, Smith ran a 19:14.48 with freshman Roni Frye backing her up with a 19:32.11, 8th place finish.

Shenandoah earned 11 All-MAC accolades in the meet with Smith and Kelley Mitchell each picking up three. Smith earned hers in the 1500, 5000 and steeplechase while Mitchell's came in the shot, hammer and discus.
