Track Opens MAC Championships
RADNOR, Pa. - Junior Brandi Sobanko led Shenandoah University Thursday on day one of the MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Widener University.
Sobanko, seeking to become the Hornets first-ever NCAA qualifier, finds herself in second place in the hepathlon after day one of the two-day competition.
Sobanko has 2263 points to trail Elizabethtown's Allie Gold by 125 points. Sobanko won the 200 meters with a 26.82, was second in the 100 meters and shot put and fourth in the high jump.
The event concludes on Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800 meters.

Senior Kelley Mitchell earned All-MAC honors in the hammer throw with a school record toss of 39.65 meters while freshman Amanda Theall was seventh at 37.25. Mitchell finished fourth overall.
Finally, freshman Roni Frye wrapped up the evening by finishing fifth overall in the 10000 meters. Frye posted a school record 42:26.00 time.
SU is in fifth place with 11 points after day one of the three-day competition.
