Marrocco Second in Half-Marathon

LEESBURG, Va. - Shenandoah University Head Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Coach Andy Marrocco finished second in his second-ever half-marathon Sunday afternoon in Leesburg.

Marrocco, who has competed 11 full marathons including the Boston Marathon five times, had a 1:16.50 over the 13.1 mile race held on the Washington-Old Dominion Trail.

Marrocco's time best his first attempt at half-marathon by nearly two minutes.

As a coach this year, Marrocco led his cross country teams to a pair of runner-up finishes in the USA South Conference Championships. His track teams are currently in the midst of their second varsity seasons.

At the end of the cross country seasons, Marrocco was named as both the men's and women's cross country Coach of the Year by the USA South.

The event was a benefit race for the Abused Women's Shelter of Leesburg.
