Track Starts Strong at Mary Washington
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Shenandoah University had a strong start
to the Mary Washington Relays Friday afternoon with three top-five
finishes and one victory.
Freshman Kyle Gutierrez paced this group with a winning time of
34:28.96 in the men's 10000 meters.
The women had individual fifth place finishes by Kristen Melton in
the 3000 meters and Kelley Mitchell in the hammer while the 4 x 400
meter relay team duplicated that finish as well.
Brandi Sobanko rounded out the women's performances with a 51'9",
13th place showing in the javelin.
Nick Denman had a 10:41.09 that was good for ninth in the men's
3000 meters with the 4 x 800 meter relay team was seventh in that
event.
The meet concludes tomorrow.
