Track Prepares for MAC Championships
TRENTON, N.J. - Shenandoah University prepared for the upcoming MAC Track Championships next weekend with a number of strong performances Saturday afternoon at the College of New Jersey Invitational.
Sophomore Brandi Sobanko paced the Hornets Saturday afternoon by finishing fifth in the women's 400 meters and 17th in the 200 with times of 1:01.03 and 27.58, respectively.
Freshman Amy Smith was 22nd in the 800 meters while freshman Justine Hastings gave coach Andy Marrocco a third qualifier in the 1500 next week with a 5:27.99, 25th place showing.
In the throwing events, junior Kelley Mitchell was eighth in the shot after a toss of 10.87 meters.
On the men's side, junior Kevin Schaeffer was 14th in the 400 meter hurdles at 1:00.41.
The three-day MAC championships begin on Thursday.
