Sobanko Fourth After Day 1
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Freshman Brandi Sobanko stands fourth after day one in the women's heptathlon at the MAC Championships hosted by Elizabethtown College.
Sobanko garnered 2053 points on day one, including 663 in the 200 meters and 555 in the high jump.
Her jump of 1.44 meters tied her for the best in that event while the 27.60 second in the 200 meter dash was the third best performance.
Sobanko rounded out day one of the two-day, seven-event competition with 17.69 in the 100 meter hurdles and a toss of 6.66 meters in the shot put.
The heptathlon concludes on Friday with the long jump, the javelin throw and the 800 meters. Sobanko's strongest event in the competition is generally the 800 meter dash.
Coach Andy Marrocco had one other athlete compete on day one - freshman Kyle Gutierrez in the men's 10000 meters.
Gutierrez was 13th with a time of 34:26.61.
The three-day event continues Friday morning.
