LYNCHBURG, Va. - Shenandoah University completed its first-ever varsity indoor track & field meet Saturday afternoon by setting six new school records and qualifying four student-athletes for the season-ending Middle Atlantic Conference meet.

One night after junior Sarah Hickie set a new school record in the women's 5000 meters, new school marks were set in the women's 400, 800 and 1000 meters as well as the men's 60, 200 and 4 x 400 meters.

Justine Hastings got things started for the Hornets on Saturday with a 2:42.77 in the women's 800 meters that was good enough for 14th place.

Hickie gave herself a second school record in as many days with a 6:09.27 in the mile, while Brandi Sobanko posted a 1:05.83 in the 400 and 3:40.60 in the 1000 for two new school marks. Hickie was 27th in her race and Sobanko 21st and 23rd, respectively, in her two events.

Sophomore Kelley Mitchell rounded things out for the women by finishing 11th in the shot put, 10.29 meters, and 19th in the weight, 9.47 meters. Both both these marks qualify Mitchell for the MAC championships at the end of February.

On the men's side, freshman Tim Robinson was 19th in the men's 60 meters (7.77 seconds) and 30th in the 200 meters, 24.87 seconds.

Both of these times are good for new school records.
