Five Qualify for MAC
NEWARK, Del. - Shenandoah University had five runners qualify
for the season-ending MAC track championships as another five
school records fell Saturday afternoon following the team's
participation in the indoor meet at the University of Delaware.
Sophomore Brandi Sobanko set new school records in the women's 200
and 400 meters and her time of 1:04.94 in the 400 meters qualified
her for the MAC championships.
That 400 time placed her 12th in the race while her 29.30 in the
200 was good enough for 25th overall.
Daniel Daisey matched Sobanko in the men's 400; his 54:30 placed
him 20th and gains him a spot in the last meet of the season.
The final three MAC qualifiers came in the 800 meters and the mile.
Josiah Renton qualified in both events with a 2:03.86 and a
4:38.69, respectively, while Kyle Gutierrez had a 4:52.06 to grab a
mile spot.
Renton's times were also good for a pair of top 10's. He was eighth
in the 800 and ninth in the mile.

Both the men and women are back in action next week at the
Christopher Newport University Invitational.
