Women Give Peace No Chance

WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University ran its women's tennis match to four Saturday morning with a 7-2 USA South Conference victory over Peace College.

The Hornets (7-4, 5-1 USA South) tied a school record with the fifth conference win; it is also the fourth consecutive victory over the Pacers (7-6, 4-2).

SU took the early lead by winning at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles and found itself just one victory from clinching it when Brittany Bascope and Bridget O'Rourke won at Nos. 3 and 6 singles, respectively.

Senior Colleen Hightower then clinched the win for the hosts with a 6-0, 6-3 triumph over Alex Kerin at No. 1.

The Pacers wins came at No. 1 doubles, where Kerin and Alejandra Cobian defeated Hightower and Briana Malley 9-7, and No. 5 singles. Jilliary Trogdon was a 6-2, 3-6, 10-8 winner over Jessica Putman in that match.

SU hosts Methodist tomorrow morning at 11:00.
