Monarchs Rule Over Tennis

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Methodist University made quick work of Shenandoah University Sunday afternoon in a USA South Conference men's and women's tennis sweep on the Lowery Tennis Courts.

The MU women (13-2, 6-0 USA South) won all eight matches in straight sets while the Monarch men (10-4, 3-1) pulled the same trick in the nine men's matches.

The SU women (7-5, 5-2) were forced to default at No. 2 singles due to illness.

The closest match of the day came in the women's No. 5 match, where Heather Brayton downed Jessica Putman 6-4, 6-3.

On the men's side, the Hornets (4-6, 0-4) No. 2 doubles team of Michael Milanov and Evan Lowery fell 8-3.

SU is back in action on Wednesday at Christopher Newport.
