Softball Splits with McDaniel

WINCHESTER, Va. – The Shenandoah University softball team completed its home slate Wednesday afternoon by splitting a non-league doubleheader versus McDaniel.

Shenandoah (11-27) was a 3-2 winner in the opener before the Green Terror (17-12-1) came back to win 8-3 in the nightcap.

In the opener, SU scored two runs in the fourth and one in the sixth to counteract single runs in the sixth and seventh for McDaniel.

Karli Rorabaugh, playing in her final home games as a Hornet, provided fourth inning runs with a single up the middle to plate classmates Lindsay Corbin and Haley Koeninger.

Corbin reached on a walk and Koeninger an error at short.

Janae Hester drove in what proved to be the game winning run with a groundout to second in the sixth. Corbin scored that run after leading off the frame with an infield single.

Katherine Seidl (5-15) pitched a complete game five-hitter. She allowed the two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two.

The Green Terror scored four runs in the first along with single runs in the second, third, sixth and seventh to salvage the split with the 8-3, game two victory.

Carrie Robinson (2-3) took the loss after allowing four runs (two earned) on three hits. She was replaced five batters into the game by Elizabeth Everette, who gave up four runs (three earned) on nine hits in 7.0 innings of work.

Koeninger and Corbin both had two hits with Koeninger driving in a pair on a double to left in the third.

Coach Marlena Kotynski's club completes its regular season on Saturday with an ODAC doubleheader at Randolph. Two wins over the WildCats would clinch an ODAC Tournament berth for the Hornets.
