Tales from the Diamond No. 13

WINCHESTER, Va. - As part of our "Friday Feature" series, it is time for another edition of Tales From the Diamond, the life and times of the SU softball team.

Ed. Note: This week's blog deals with post-tournament practices. Fortunately, everybody remembered all of their equipment this week...

Not much happened this past week. We were supposed to have a doubleheader against Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday, but that was cancelled due to a rainstorm. Otherwise, it was just practice for us this past week…

After a two-day break following conference tournament, we began to prepare for our final two doubleheaders of the season.

Our Tuesday practice focused on defense and some hitting. Wednesday we worked on hitting inside because of the rain.

Thursday and Friday we played a game where we split up into two teams - Freshmen/Sophomores vs Juniors/Seniors. On defense, you could only have four outfielders and if you made a good play on a ball you got one point for your team.

Offensively, we had soft toss with one point earned for and three for a line drive. Unfortunately, a pop-up cost a point.

My team (the freshmen/sophomores) won both days!

We had a nice relaxing weekend off and prepared ourselves for the weekend ahead and our doubleheader against York (Pa.)!

Although we don't have much left of our season we are still focusing on our last doubleheader and finishing strong for our seniors and as a good start for next season.

One blog to go…
