Softball Receives Votes in Top 25 Poll

STARKVILLE, Miss. - The Shenandoah University softball team is among a group of eight schools receiving top 25 consideration in poll results released earlier this week by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The Hornets, 2-0 after sweeping Mary Washington in a non-league doubleheader Sunday afternoon, received five votes in the NFCA Top 25 poll this week.

Trine (Ind.) and Virginia Wesleyan are the only two schools ahead of SU and not in the top 25.

Shenandoah faces plays in the Virginia Wesleyan Beach Blast tomorrow and Saturday where it will face both No. 7 Salisbury and No. 20 Rowan (N.J.).

The Hornets split two games with the Profs last spring in the NCAA Regionals and won one of three games against Salisbury during the 2011 season.

In addition to the SU and Rowan contest, Shenandoah faces Baruch (N.Y.) and Stevenson at the Beach Blast.
