Seven Earn Academic Honors

BATON ROUGE, La. - The Shenandoah University softball team had seven student-athletes earn Scholar Athlete honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in a list released recently by the NFCA.

Graduated seniors Renoula Jones '11 and Ashley Plaugher '11 headline the list as well as current players Misty Judd, Denise Mitchell, Brooke Over, Heather Sink and Jordan Wolford.

Judd, Plaugher and Mitchell all had perfect 4.0 GPA's this past spring with Wolford coming in at 3.95. 

All of these women were named Academic All-USA South with Mitchell and Wolford also picking up All-State honors.

As a team, the 17-woman squad achieved an average GPA of 3.17.

Shenandoah opens its 2011 season on February 26 at Mary Washington.
