Three Earn USA South Honors

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University earned three of a
possible four USA South Conference softball Player of the Week
awards in selections announced Monday by the conference office.
Senior Katie
Haskins and freshman Brooke
Over swept the pitching awards by being named the league's
pitcher and rookie Pitcher of the Week, respectively, while Marlee
Camplese was named as the Rookie of the Week.
Haskins, the 2008 USA South Conference Pitcher of the Year, earns
her second weekly honor in three weeks after she recorded four wins
and a save in five appearances last week.
Haskins struck out 33 in 27.2 innings pitched, had one-hitters
against both Mary Baldwin and Methodist and posted a win and a save
in a Thursday doubleheader against Mary Washington.
Over was nearly as effective as Haskins, defeating Mary Washington,
Mary Baldwin and Methodist before losing to Peace on an unearned
run in the bottom of the seventh.
Over had 11 strikeouts in a two-hit victory over Mary Baldwin and
this is her third rookie honor this season.
Camplese becomes the second different SU freshman to be named
Rookie of the Week in the last three weeks after hitting .500 (10
for 20) in the eight games last week.
Camplese helped the Hornets to a 5-3 win over Mary Washington with
a two-run double and was a combined 4 for 5 in the Mary Baldwin
sweep.
Shenandoah is back in action on Tuesday at Ferrum.
