Softball Splits at Peace
RALEIGH, N.C. - Shenandoah University saw its winning streak
end, but got a split of its USA South Conference softball series
with Peace College Saturday afternoon.
Shenandoah (18-8, 7-3 USA South) was a 3-2 winner in game one, but
Peace (13-15, 6-6) rallied for a 2-1 victory in the nightcap.
It took one extra inning for the Hornets in that opener - Jesse
Heins plated placed runner Catherine Beuerle with a two-out
sacrifice fly to center.
The manufactured run made a winner of senior Katie Haskins (10-2),
who struck out eight and allowed the two runs on seven hits while
pitching a complete game.
Shenandoah had 10 hits in the contest including two each from
Haskins, Beuerle and freshman Marlee Camplese.
Freshman Brooke Over (4-5) took the loss in the nightcap. In the
bottom of the seventh, Over missed first baseman Lauren Wall on a
groundball back to the circle, and this runner came around to score
the winning run.
