Beuerle Awarded NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Graduating senior Catherine Beuerle has been awarded an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship in awards announced Wednesday by the NCAA.
Beuerle, a member of the SU Doctor of Physical Therapy class of 2010, just finished a four-year softball career in which she earned All-USA South honors three times and was named as an ESPN The Magazine first team Academic All-America in both 2008 and 2009.
In addition to four years with the softball team, Beuerle also played volleyball in her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Beuerle, a 4.0 student as an undergrad who has a 3.9 GPA in the Physical Therapy program, is one of 29 women to be awarded an NCAA scholarship this spring. She is also the first SU student-athlete, male or female, to be awarded a scholarship by the NCAA.
The NCAA annually awards up to 174 postgraduate scholarships, 87 for men and 87 for women. The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition.
The one-time grants of $7,500 each are awarded for fall sports, winter sports and spring sports. Each sports season (fall, winter and spring), there are 29 scholarships available for men and 29 scholarships available for women.
