Named as just the third coach in Shenandoah University men's soccer history, Des Lawless brings a lifetime of soccer experience to his position.
Lawless was named as just the third coach in SU history in August 2006 following longtime coach Rob Kulton's resignation one week prior to the start of the '06 season.
Lawless came to Shenandoah with 15 years of collegiate head coaching experience. From 1990 to 1997, Lawless won five Ohio Athletic Conference championships as the head women's coach at Heidelberg College before moving on to Kenyon College as the head men's coach. At Kenyon, Lawless was named as the North Coast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2001. After leaving Kenyon following the 2004 season, Lawless was involved with the Ohio FC soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio.

A native of London, England, Lawless graduated West Sussex (England) in 1978 and received his Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in 1990. Following the completion of collegiate playing career, Lawless played senior level club soccer in England, the Bahamas and Ethiopia until coming to the U.S. to pursue his graduate degree.
