WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Head Men's Soccer Coach Matt Smith announced his 2017 schedule Wednesday morning.
Smith, who took over as the fifth head coach in program history in January, has nine home games on his 2017 slate including a pair on the opening weekend of the season.
After a three-game road swing that sees Smith's club travel to Penn St. - Altoona, Wesley and Waynesburg, the Hornets return home to hsot Marymount on Wednesday, September 13 in a 7 p.m. non-league contest.
Shenandoah hosts Emory and Henry, Bridgewater, Roanoke, Virginia Wesleyan and Eastern Mennonite in league play with the Roanoke game, on Friday, October 13, marking the start of Homecoming 2017 athletic events.
The Virginia Wesleyan contest on October 21 is a 5 p.m. start and will serve as Senior Day for the club.
In addition to the trip to Guilford, SU travels to Lynchburg, Hampden-Sydney and Randolph-Macon for ODAC games. As part of the league's unbalanced schedule. the Hornets do not meet Randolph College in ODAC play this season.
"We have a challenging schedule, but one we should compete in every time out," Smith said. "The players worked hard in the spring season, we have a solid recruiting class coming in and we are ready to be successful."
