Roanoke Downs Men's Soccer

SALEM, Va. - Host Roanoke College kept Shenandoah University winless in ODAC men's soccer play with a 3-1 victory over the Hornets Wednesday afternoon.

The Maroons (7-3-1, 5-1-1 ODAC) scored a pair of goals in the opening 11 minutes of the contest to pull away from Shenandoah (2-11-1, 0-7).

Garrett Eldridge had that first tally, on an assist from AJ Tierce, before Brian White knocked home what proved to be the game-winner on rebound at 11:02.

RC finished off the first half scoring with a Grant McAvan tally in the 40th minute.

The Hornets battled the entire second half and were rewarded in the 82nd minute as Andrew Ralli headed home the program's first-ever goal in ODAC play.

Roanoke outshot Shenandoah 14-6, but had just a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Both keepers made four saves.

The Maroons took six of the game's eight corners.

SU will seek its first ODAC victory on Saturday with a 3:00 home match against Emory and Henry.
