ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Host N.C. Wesleyan ended Shenandoah University's men's soccer season with a 5-0 win Saturday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams.
N.C. Wesleyan (12-3-2, 5-0-1 USA South) clinches the regular season championship with the win over the Hornets (4-11-2, 0-5-1).
The loss also ends Shenandoah's season, as only the top six teams advance to the post-season USA South Conference Tournament.
Javier Castrillo gave the hosts all of the offense they would need with his goal in the 31st minute; the Bishops took a 2-0 lead into the break as Castrillo set up Mark Wielitzka 97 seconds before halftime for a one-timer.
Wesleyan then put the game away in the second half with goals in the 47th, 86th and 87th minutes. The final two goals came 1:38 apart.
SU keeper Adrian Acosta had one save in the 90-minute contest.
NCWC outshot the Hornets 16-4 and had a 3-2 advantage in corners.
