Men's Soccer Picked Fifth
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Shenandoah University is the No. 5 pick of the USA South Conference men's soccer coaches in a preseason poll released Wednesday morning by the conference office.
The Hornets, coming off of a season in which they advanced to the USA South Tournament semi-finals, received 17 points in the poll to come in just behind No. 4 pick Methodist.
N.C. Wesleyan, the 2008 Tournament champion, edged Christopher Newport for the top spot. The Bishops had 34 points and four first place votes while CNU had 32 and three.
Points are awarded on a 1-7 basis and teams cannot vote for themselves in the poll.
Shenandoah opens the 2009 season on September 1 at Eastern Mennonite.
