Methodist Ends Men's Season

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Host Methodist University eliminated Shenandoah University from the 2009 USA South Conference Men's Soccer Tournament with a 4-1 quarterfinal round victory Tuesday afternoon.

After Shenandoah (4-11-2) opened the game with a Chris Wondree goal off of a Karim Kamara assist in the 23rd minute, third-seeded Methodist (10-9) equaled the score 17 minutes later on a Bret Brennan to Brendan Wilson through pass.

The assist was the first of three on the day for Brennan. Just over six minutes into the second half, he lofted a corner kick into the box that Shane Davis headed home for the game-winning goal before finding Steve Harris on another through ball in the 63rd minute.

Davis closed out the day's scoring with an unassisted tally at 77:57.

MU outshot SU 12-7 for the game and had four of the game's five corners.

Shenandoah keeper Arman Bozorgmanesh had three saves in his final collegiate contest.

The loss ends the season for the Hornets, who had entered the tournament as the No. 6 seed.
