Bullets Stop Men's Soccer

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Host Gettysburg College broke open a close game with a strong second half Tuesday night in a 4-0 men's soccer non-league victory over Shenandoah.

The Bullets (7-4-3) scored their first goal in the 27th minute when Geoff Menge redirected a Teddy Smith corner kick just inside the right post.

Shenandoah (0-13-2) had outshot its hosts 5-2 up to this point but had been turned back each time by Gettysburg keeper Adam Finkel.

GC then iced the contest with three goals in a span of 5:05 early in the second. Kyle DeBlois made it 2-0 when the knocked home a rebound of a Chris Bayon shot at 55:59, Menge scored unassisted at 59:15 and DeBlois completed the run by returning the favor to Bayon at 61:04.

Gettysburg outshot the Hornets 25-10, including 21-4 in the second half.

SU keepers Brian Garretson and Arman Bozorgmanesh combined to make 13 saves with Garretson making six of those in just under 68 minutes of action.

Shenandoah is back in action Saturday afternoon at 1:00 in a USA South Conference contest against Ferrum.
