Men's Soccer Battles To Tie
WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University battled Marymount
University to a 1-1 men's soccer tie Wednesday night despite
finishing down three men.
It was the third straight overtime contest for the Hornets
(0-8-2).
Marymount (2-5-2) scored the opening goal of the game in the 59th
minute on a Sean McAuliffe to Faris Al Ismali tally.
Shenandoah, which stopped a penalty kick in the first half, finally
tied it Liberatus
Mwagombe scored unassisted with just under 15 minutes to
play.
The Hornets goal was scored down two men - SU was issued red cards
in the 45th and 66th minutes to find itself playing with just eight
field players.
With six minutes to play, junior Chris
Wondree was issued a second yellow card, putting Shenandoah
down another man.
Wondree's yellow (which turns to red) was one of 12 cards given out
in the extremely physical ocntest. A total of 55 fouls were called,
including 33 against the hosts.
SU keeper Brian
Garretson made eight saves on the night, including the penalty
kick in the first half.

Shenandoah hosts Greensboro on Saturday in its USA South Conference
