Captains Sink Mens Soccer

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Top-seeded Christopher Newport ended Shenandoah University's run in the USA South Conference men's soccer Tournament with a 6-0 victory Friday afternoon in the semi-finals at N.C. Wesleyan.

The Captains (14-3-3) scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 17th minute on a goal by Tyler Clare and then sandwiched four goals around the halftime break over the No. 5 Hornets (3-14-2).

CNU scored in the 40th, 42nd, 48th and 50th minutes to earn itself a championship game match-up against second-seeded N.C. Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon. The two teams tied 3-3 last week in their regular season meeting.

SU keeper Brian Garretson made nine saves in 80 minutes of action before giving way to Arman Bozogmanesh.
