Susquehanna Tops Men's Lax

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Susquehanna University used a strong middle of the contest Thursday afternoon to down Shenandoah University 13-7 in non-conference men's lacrosse action.

After Shenandoah (3-3) took a 3-1 lead by the end of the first, Susquehanna (2-2) answered with nine of the game's next 11 goals to take a 10-5 lead heading into the final stanza.

The two teams entered halftime tied 4-4 thanks to a Kyle Savage to Stephen LaTona goal for the hosts 55 seconds prior to the half, but the Crusaders dominated the third.

Following a Terrence Mulvey goal for the Hornets at 12:33 of the third, Susquehanna reeled off seven straight to take a commanding 12-5 lead with 11:44 remaining.

Sophomore Connor Bishop finally snapped the string for Shenandoah with an unassisted goal at 10:11, but the Hornets would get no closer than a six-goal deficit.

LaTona scored the final goal of the game off of a Tilghman Sanders feed with 3:58 to play.

Pat Brogan and Ryan Buckley paced the visitors with three goals each; Brogan added two assists.

Susquehanna had 10 men register at least one point.

LaTona had three goals for Shenandoah with Mulvey adding two goals and one assist.

Aaron Paul had the hosts' remaining goal.

Susquehanna had a 32-18 advantage in shots, scooped up 34 of the game's 61 groundballs and won 13 of 24 faceoffs.

Ben Judy made seven saves for the hosts.

The Hornets are on the road this weekend at SUNY-Maritime.
