Hanover Rallies for Lax Win

WINCHESTER, Va. - Visiting Hanover College rallied for a 9-8 non-league men's lacrosse victory over Shenandoah Monday afternoon.

The Panthers (1-0) scored with 75 seconds remaining to snap Shenandoah's two-game winning streak to start the season.

SU (2-1) had led by three goals at one point only to see Hanover roar back in the second half.

Taking a 6-3 lead into the half thanks to a four-goal second period, the Hornets were held scoreless for the opening 17:28 of the second half.

In that time, HC scored four straight to turn its three-goal deficit into a one-goal lead.

Terrence Mulvey opened the fourth with a goal off of a Frank Tejera assist to knot the game at 7-7 before Hanover again jumped in front with a Nick Hermes goal at 9:52.

Tilghman Sanders scored unassisted for the hosts at 8:26, setting the stage for Josh Green to score the game-winner for the visitors at the 1:15 mark.

Green finished off a cross-crease feed from Frank Vest on a fastbreak to score the winning goal.

Stephen LaTona, who was named as the ODAC Player of the Week earlier in the day, and two goals and two assists for the Hornets.

Tejera matched LaTona's production while Mulvey had two goals.

SU took 31 of the game's 60 shots and also held a slight, 33-32, advantage in groundballs.

The Hornets were 12 of 21 at the faceoff 'x'.

Shenandoah is back in action on Wednesday with a 4:00 non-league game against Frostburg State.
