WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah University Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Mike Kruger announced his 2013 schedule Thursday afternoon.
Kruger, who just finished his first campaign as the Hornets head coach, has 16 games scheduled for 2013.
Nine of those dates are for Old Dominion Athletic Conference contests.
Shenandoah joins the ODAC this coming July after 11 years of participation in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
The ODAC opener is March 16 at Virginia Wesleyan with the initial home conference contest coming two weeks later against Hampden-Sydney.
SU hosts Randolph-Macon, Guilford, Washington & Lee and Lynchburg at home in addition to the Tigers.
After opening the season with non-league road contests at Alvernia on February 23 and Hood on the 27th, Kruger's club will take on former CSAC rival Marywood in a March 2 tilt on the Sprint Field at Shentel Stadium turf.
The Hornets will also host Susquehanna, Southwestern (Tex.) and University of New England next spring.
Five of the opponents (Susquehanna, Southwestern, University of New England, Randolph and Bridgewater) are first-ever matchups for the men's lacrosse program.
"This is an exciting time for our program," Kruger said. "The ODAC is one of the strongest conferences in Division III. Our coaches and players are eager to begin competition in this league. We have a strong recruiting class that will add depth to our returning players, and I know our guys can't wait to compete on a daily basis."
