Griffins Stop Men's Lax

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Host Gwynedd-Mercy scored the first five goals of the game Saturday on its way to a 13-6 CSAC men's lacrosse win over Shenandoah.

Gwynedd-Mercy (4-5, 2-0) led 5-0 after one, and after SU (0-9, 0-2) scored the final two goals of the first half, pulled away with five unanswered in the third.

Shenandoah was held scoreless from the 5:11 mark of the second until P.J. Cooper scored unassisted 24 seconds into the fourth.

Cooper's goal made it 10-3 in favor of the Griffins and the Hornets were unable to cut the deficit less than six goals the rest of the way.

Mac Hedrick paced SU with two goals and one assist while Cooper and Sean Mack both had one goal and one assist.

GMC outshot Shenandoah 42-28, won 33 of 47 groundballs and took 16 of 22 faceoffs.

Hornets keeper Andrew Fleischmann made 11 saves.

Shenandoah travels to Neumann on Wednesday for another CSAC contest.
