Catholic Stops Men's Lax

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Host Catholic University held Shenandoah
University scoreless for the first 46 minutes Wednesday afternoon
on its way to a 12-4 non-league men's lacrosse victory.
Catholic (6-4) scored twice within the first 90 seconds of the
contest and then coasted to the seven-goal win over the Hornets
(4-3).
PJ Cooper scored the initial goal of the game for SU with an
unassisted tally 69 seconds into the fourth quarter, but the
Cardinals advantage was too tough to overcome.
Catholic led 7-0 at the time of Cooper's tally, and answered the
goal with two of its own in the next 50 seconds.
Now leading 9-1, CUA and the Hornets traded the final five goals of
the contest.
James Gonzalez had a goal and an assist for SU with Courtney Ledden
and Sean Mack chipping in a goal each.
Catholic outshot its visitors 50-22 and won the groundball battle
39-24.
Shenandoah goalie Rodney Mattison made 18 saves.
